Are you tired of missing your favorite shows on DStv? Do you want to record your favorite shows and watch them later? The ability to record, called PVR, is a great feature offered by DStv that lets you save content to watch on your schedule.

In this article, I will discuss how to record DStv shows on both the HD Decoder and the Explora. I will also show you how to activate PVR on DStv, and how to clear disk full on DStv Explora.

Without further delay, let’s begin!

How to Record DStv Shows

How to Record DStv Shows

Follow the steps below to record shows on an HD decoder:

  • Since the ‘DStv HD decoder’ doesn’t have internal storage, you need to connect an external hard drive to store recordings. Use a USB port on the decoder to plug in a compatible hard drive.
  • Once your drive is connected, enable the ‘Personal Video Recording (PVR)’ feature. You can do this by pressing the PVR button on your remote or by accessing the PVR option in the Settings menu.
  • With PVR activated, you can now schedule recordings in the TV guide. Use the remote to navigate to a future program and press ‘Record’ to set it to record. You can also schedule a ‘Series Recording’ to record all episodes of a show.

  • Check Recording Usage: Go to Settings and locate your recordings to see your used and free space. This also helps identify what to delete.
  • Delete Old Recordings: Go through your recordings and delete those you no longer need to free up capacity. Be sure not to delete in-progress recordings.
  • Expand Storage: Consider connecting an external hard drive or replacing your current drive with a larger one. This instantly expands the storage space for recordings.
